Day 21 – And I will

Last spring, we went up to Pigeon Forge for a few days. On this trip, I was able to do something with the boys that we had not done before. We rode GO KARTS!. We had a blast racing and bumping each other (yes I know you are not supposed to bump). Once we got home, I started watching youtube videos of go carts. The next thing you know, the boys and Steph give me an adult go kart of my own for my birthday!

Yes I know, I’m just a big kid at heart.

This new toy of mine led to more videos and more ideas. There is an event in North Carolina in the spring and in the fall called Mini Mayhem where people show up to ride their mini bikes, go karts, side by sides and their custom creations. I set a goal to be there in the spring with my new toy.

I am focused…

I am determined..

I will be there in just a few months!

This part of verse 6 to me is all about focus, determination, setting a goal and meeting it even in the face of adversity.

II Chronicles 15:7 But as for you, be strong and do not give up, for your work will be rewarded.

Life is loud. Life is noisy and full of distractions. I can be so focused on a task at work then my cell phone will ring with a completely new task. Then another call…and another call. Before I know it, the first task that I was so focused on and determined to finish, has slipped through the cracks.

That is not why we are here. We were not created by God to be pulled in 15 different directions.

Colossians 1:16 For in him all things were created: things in heaven and on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or powers or rulers or authorities; all things have been created through him and for him.

We were created by God, for Him, so that we can glorify Him and so that the plans that He has for us, will come through.

Job 42:2 I know that you can do all things; no purpose of yours can be thwarted.

Proverbs 19:21 Many are the plans in a person’s heart, but it is the Lord’s purpose that prevails.

A couple of days ago, my son Jason was walking to the truck to head home with us. His head was looking straight at his phone while he was walking. He wasn’t looking where he was going. He was so focused on what was on his phone and could have fallen at any time. He had lost sight of the destination only determined to focus on what was right in front of him.

That’s my day in a nutshell. I get so focused on what I need to do, or what I want to do, I lose track of God’s plan for my life. I lose focus on the family life that I have, and I lose sight of opportunities to make lasting memories.

I need new goals. I need more focus and determination on whats important.

I will….

Be a better witness for Christ…

Be the spiritual head of our household…

Be a better husband to Stephanie…

Be Godly father to my sons…

Be a better son to my mom…

Be available to make more memories…

Be more focused on the plans that God has for me, instead of the plans that I want.

Keith
